3 Signs Your Kitchen Really Isn’t Working For You
How do you feel about your kitchen? Maybe it’s the one room in your home that you just haven’t fallen in love with in the way you hoped? If that’s the case, it might not be working for you! And if it isn’t, there will be signs to look out for.
You Always Knock Things Over When Reaching for Something

If there’s too much clutter on your counters, you’re going to be knocking it over, spilling things, and spending twice as much time cleaning up as you really should. And that’s no way to create a productive, balanced kitchen.
This can also be a sign that you just don’t have enough in the way of proper storage, such as overhead cabinets or a kitchen island.
And that’s something to consider through a home renovations lens; you might just need to re-layout the kitchen to have more cupboard and counter space!
You Don’t Have a Work Triangle
It’s a classic design principle of the ‘modern’ home. The kitchen is supposed to have three core points that form a triangle: the fridge, the stove, and the sink.
And if they’re in a triangle, you don’t have to go too far to move from one to the other. In fact, if these three points exist on a triangle, then it’s the same distance each way, no matter where you’re moving from!
However, many kitchens put these points on a rather wonky line instead. So while the stove might be in the middle, and it’s easy to get to and from either the sink or the fridge, the other two points are just too far away from one another.
You’re moving twice the distance to do the same amount of work each time you prepare and cook food, and that’s probably a good chunk of the reason the kitchen tires you out!
You Hate Being in the Kitchen
And we’re not just talking about personal preference here! It’s not about whether you’re a good cook, or if you’re not a fan of cleaning up after dinner. It’s a matter of the room itself being not quite right for your needs.
Think about the way you feel when you have to go and use the kitchen. Do you already feel a bit demotivated, and like you want to rush through cooking? Is the idea already tiring you out?
Then there could be something very wrong with the layout, the storage space, the amount of clutter, etc., or even all three! No matter the reason you’re not happy using the kitchen, the fact remains that you don’t like to do so. And that deserves some time and attention from you.
Look at your kitchen as is and see if you can figure out where these feelings are coming from. Because once you pinpoint them, you can start to do something about where it’s letting you down.
Not sure if your kitchen is good enough for you? Keep signs like these in mind!
