Colour therapy for your home

The home can be a place of healing, harmony and joy by using colours. This guide to Colour Therapy will help you with your search to bring wellness into your living space. We live in a world full of colours and it is part of our everyday lives, from the time we wake up until that last second when we close our eyes to sleep. Even our very moods are dictated by colour. You might have noticed a particular effect a colour gives. Your office might be painted a vibrant orange if you are working in the creative field. Or you might have walked into a room of clashing colours and found yourself gasping for air to breathe.

Fact: Colour is Light Energy that Affects Living Cells

Colour

This means that colour can be used for healing and holistic practices dating back to ancient Egypt. Science has stated that light has its frequency and vibration, and we can take advantage of colour therapy, by using it in our homes.

What is Colour Therapy?

Colour therapy is simply an art of bringing overall wellness through the use of colours. The home is the perfect place to apply this concept since it is the place where you rest, live and play – or work for some.

How to use Colour Therapy?

You can start by choosing colours that attract you and using them for your home’s colour scheme. It might surprise you that your body emits an energy field in colours, and what you don’t like most is the colour that is most abundant in your energy field. It may be hard when you like a lot of colours, but take that time to select your soul colour.

What is the right colour for you?

Colour Swatch

If you are still having a tough time choosing that perfect colour, try going to your nearest paint store and ask for paint swatches. Find a quiet spot where you can sit undisturbed.

Look at the colours and observe the type of feeling a certain colour gives you. If you want your bedroom to be comfy and vibrant at the same time, you can use neutral hues like cream, white and taupe to unify the colours. You can also do a collage of the colours you have chosen to see how the combination feels.

Here’s a List of Colours and its Health Benefits

Blue – relieve anxiety, fever, and respiratory problem. This colour is great for bedrooms and living areas.
Red – helps in blood flow and sexual drive. It is the colour of strength and power.
Yellow – cleanses negative energy and toxins from the body. It is also great for the nerves and promotes the sharpness of the mind.
Green – it makes you feel fresh, even in the 40-degree summer heat.
Orange – an energy booster, creativity and joy
Violet – brings your mind and body to rest

You can also follow the trend of some purists who would only use monochromes for their homes. Few of them would even go to the extreme monotones of black and white. In the end, it is all about that colour that looks good and feels even better.

Oo by the sounds of it I need a bit more blue in my life! We are thinking of decorating the living room blue/grey, so this could be perfect 🙂

What a great idea. I wish we’d done more of it before decorating our home. I’ll bare it in mind when we eventually redecorate

I always go to greens for the house for some reason. I think my whole house would be a shade of green if I could!

Our lounge is a pale pistachio green and is one of my favourite rooms in the house, it’s so calm and relaxing.

We moved in to a new home last year and just painted everything white to begin with, to give us a fresh clean start. Now we are starting to revisit each room and adding colour bit by bit.
