  • Wreath form: You can choose between a grapevine wreath or a wire wreath frame.
  • Artificial leaves in Autumn colors (orange, red, yellow, and brown).
  • Floral wire and wire cutters.
  • Burlap ribbon (or any ribbon you like).
  • A length of ribbon for hanging the wreath.
  • Mini pumpkins, pinecones, or other natural elements.
  • Metallic paint or acrylic paint for adding decorative touches.
  • A dab of hot glue and a glue gun.
  • Optional: Decorative corns, Indian corn wreath materials, svg cut file or pdf template for personalizing your wreath.Step 1: Prepare Your Wreath Form

We’re starting with either a grapevine wreath for a more natural look or a wire wreath frame for more structure. Both are great options, depending on the look you want for your fall decor. I personally love the grapevine wreath because it already has that rustic look.

Adding Foliage

Now, let’s add our artificial leaves in gorgeous fall colors. Use floral wire or a dab of hot glue to attach them to the wreath form. Start at the top of the wreath, working your way around in a pattern. You can arrange them to create a nice, layered effect. This part is much fun, and it’s up to you how full you want your wreath to be!

If you’re using decorative corns or mini pumpkins, now is the time to glue or wire those in place. For a natural look, you can also add pinecones and acorns.

For a fun way to add an artistic touch, grab your metallic paint or acrylic paint. You can lightly paint the edges of your leaves, pinecones, or pumpkins to add a little sparkle. This will make your wreath stand out on your front door.

Adding a Ribbon

Take your burlap ribbon and tie it into a bow. Attach it to the top of the wreath using floral wire or glue. You can also leave some length of ribbon trailing down for a more dramatic look. This is a great way to finish off your wreath and give it that farmhouse feel.

Your wreath is now complete! Use a length of ribbon or a wire hook to hang it on your own door or front step. This is such an easy DIY fall wreath, perfect for this time of year.

Autumn Wreath Tips

  • Floral designers recommend placing larger elements, like pumpkins, off-center for a more balanced look.
  • If you want your wreath to last year after year, store it in a safe place once the season ends.
  • Try experimenting with different themes—this same technique can be used for a Christmas wreath

Creating your own DIY autumn wreath is a great way to welcome the season and showcase your creativity. With just a few materials and some inspiration, you can craft a beautiful decoration that adds warmth and charm to your home. Whether you opt for vibrant leaves, rustic twigs, or elegant pumpkins, the possibilities are endless, allowing for a personal touch that reflects your style. As you hang your finished masterpiece on your front door or above the mantel, you will automatically bring the spirit of autumn into your personal space.
