Colour trends – What’s hot and what’s not
Table of Contents
The colours that we choose for our interior walls play an important role, serving as the backdrop to how we live within our homes. Colours are not only for decoration; they are emotive and can enhance how we feel about our personal spaces.
So what colour are hot in 2021?
Let’s firstly take a look at the colour trends for 2021.
Earthy tones
Comforting earthy tones inspired by rural landscapes are bang on-trend. In particular, tan, peachy colours, and terracotta are all making a comeback.
Calming neutrals
You can’t go wrong with a classic neutral backdrop. Colours such as mushrooms or stones are currently very popular. Add bright coloured furniture and accessories to contrast.
Lush greens
Green is everywhere in interiors right now – whether it be rich velvety dark green or a more muted olive green. It is here to stay.
Beautiful blues
Blue can give a fresh feel to your interior – think bold ultramarines or dark navy which makes a real statement.
Warming reds
Again back to that earthy feel, warm and deep reds are very popular right now. Think more plum tones that will give a warming feel to your room.
What’s not trendy in 2021?
Accent walls
Looking too distracting and easy to get bored with, apparently accent walls will slowly be OUT in 2021, making room for more monochromatic interiors.
All white walls
It’s finally the end of all-white interiors that are also super minimal. This year is all about colour and creating a creative mix by being bold whilst using them.
These are the colour predictions as to what is currently popular – I have heard that the comforting earthy tones have come about during the pandemic, and people want to feel cosy inside their homes.
Do you have a favourite interior colour?

Currently, I am a fan of all whites mixed with earthy. However, Teal and grey have caught my attention.

Nice but, personally, I would never paint my walls according to what colors are hot. Most people don’t paint their walls frequently.

My mom always does a good job with warming the place up with reds. Or brightening the place up with the same color, depending on the room (I’m thinking of her kitchen). Color matters.

We currently have all white walls, which have been a pain to maintain! I like the idea of more earthy walls, and they really make the place look so different.

I love this and appreciate the design tips. I tend to like it light and bright… I do love a good yellow as yellow is a happy color and green is my fave of all time 😉
